Handwritten letter from Walter C. Childs in Pittsburgh, PA addressed to “My dear Boys” (John Pitcairn, Jr. and possibly W. H. Benade?). “W. C. C.” crested letterhead. Handwriting difficult to decipher.
Contents:
-2 Sundays have passed since “Boys” departed
-Vettering doing well
-new medal arrived; decided improvement; Childs will alter few minor details when in Phila. with the General (Stuart)
-copy of C. L. (?) that they have is missing pages from the Miscellaneous Observations section; can the “Boys” procure & send the remaining pages from the Occidental (i.e. Europe?)
-20 copies sent to Childs from Academy of the “Authority”; Childs has already distributed 15; Albert & James both reading it
-dinner at James'; sister expressed her mind regarding people who won’t declare position (on Authority question (?))
-Mr. Warren didn’t want to appear as one of incorporators of Academy; excused & replaced with (W. F.) Pendleton; should Warren be asked to resign from Council?
-General (Stuart) writes that most of Serial No. 1 is in type & they are casting the plates
-Borham (?) of the Conduit Co. requested doctrinal conversation; spoke for several hours at Child’s house; Borham (?) delighted & will begin reading New Church material
-Miss Holmes (?) of Cinti. has read Conj. Love & finds it useful; Child may send her “Authority” because she may be “a little shaky at the base”
