Scope and Contents

Handwritten letter from Dr. George R. Starkey in Washington, D. C. to his wife, Caira Skelton Starkey. “G. R. Starkey, M. D.” letterhead.

Contents: -relief that Pauline will return from California unengaged- Caira should read all letters between Pauline and her potential partner to judge their respective states -no word from Pauline on travel plans- George may pick her up, but must wait for word of departure from San Francisco -relief that Caira has found a servant -misunderstanding over payment for Mrs. P.; no more music lessons for present -sympathy for Mrs. P.’s situation, but no use for her to try to establish herself there -financial strain- $400 spent in the last 2 weeks on rent and family expenses -what made Mr. Perry “falsity his word”? he has received rent every month -Starkey yet to receive a single full month’s rent for his own house -mention of interesting lesson at Sunday School -hope that Caira will enjoy new kitchen
