Letter from Dr. George R. Starkey to Edward "Ned" Starkey, 1876-05-19
Scope and Contents
Handwritten Postal from Dr. George R. Starkey in Washington, D. C. to his son, Edward “Ned” Starkey in Vineland, NJ. Starkey has not received a letter from Ned in a long time, and he hopes their friendship isn’t “wearing out.” He thinks Ned might use his work on the farm and garden as an excuse, except that he has 4 bantams (chickens) and Dick to help, to say nothing of the “cotton balls with tail feathers.” He thinks Ned could’ve found time to write if he tried. He has received Gertude’s card. It is a “salty” day, but he is doing pretty well. Names mentioned: Dick, Gertrude (Gertrude Starkey Pitcairn)
