Letter from Dr. George R. Starkey to Gertrude Starkey Pitcairn, 1874-04-17
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from Dr. George R. Starkey in Washington to Gertrude Starkey Pitcairn. G. R. Starkey thanks Gertrude for her card. He was going to write them a letter today except that Mrs. Perinchief was going up and could act as a living letter. He wonders if she had a good time in Georgetown and hopes she made it safely to Green Street. He hopes Gertrude enjoyed Lohengrin and that her sewing is going well. He also hopes her mother’s head has “recovered it’s sensibility,” as it is “such a calamity to an insensible head!!!” The weather in Washington has been splendid, although Mrs. Hatch has a cold in the head and the Dr. is under the weather. Clift and Lulu are also unwell. Starkey and Eddie seem to be the only ones “in a perfect state of sanitariumness.” Starkey has begun to think of home and is excited to return in about a week. He sends his love to Mrs. Peirsol, Mrs. Parkhurst, and the rest of the children. Names mentioned: Mrs. Perinchief, Lohengrin, Mrs. Hatch, Dr. (Hatch?), Clift, Lulu, Eddie, Mrs. Peirsol (?), Mrs. Parkhurst Places mentioned: Georgetown, Green Street
