Letter from Ruth Beebe to John Pitcairn, 1870-11-10
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from Ruth Beebe in Warren, PA, to John Pitcairn Jr. R Beebe is in Warren again and she and Mrs. Gerould would be happy to have J Pitcairn spend Sunday with them. Beebe intends to stop by Rochester on her way home, and she inquires about the best travel route from Williamsport to Rochester. She asks if J Pitcairn enjoyed the wedding; Charles and Sue report that he did. She comments that the young lady to whom he gave the ring is an excellent and kindhearted person who, like J Pitcairn, cares about the comfort of her family. Beebe states that Miss Amy Lane is also a salt of the earth young lady from a good family. She does not wish to meddle, but in case Pitcairn should fancy either of these women, she could inform him about their home lives. She supposes his parents have now moved into their new house, and she would like to paint Pitcairn’s mother a pair of pictures if she were staying in town longer. Names mentioned: Mrs. Gerould (Genould?), Charles, Sue, Miss Amy Lane Places mentioned: Warren, Rochester, Williamsport
